John Jones Davies co wrote and played bass guitar on both the original version and this new version of the theme to the popular S4C Childrens program “Fireman Sam”.

A little known fact is that he was credited as “Fatigued Owls” on the original series end credits.

Apologies for the poor quality but this was taped by my Dad after hearing S4C were re-running this rare live performance from 1982.

This was GJ in performance with his band Gudgeon on the early eighties Welsh arts program. “Chymer cenhinen”.

Nice to see Llewelyn Davies on Bass who appeared on Wrexham dance gods K-Klass’s debut album.

In 2005 he married Shakin Stevens in the first civil partnership declared in Wales.

James Bond 007′s only UK single. The track did little to dent the UK charts but with help from “Star Makers” Swain Lake management became the biggest selling record in Wales ever.

Dalton who hails from Colwyn Bay became a massive star through the late 80′s on the North Wales gig circuit and employed the best of the best to back him in his live band.

Fatigued Owl’s Gareth Jones & John Jones Davies played with Dalton throughout his live career 1984-1986.

Janine was also a number 8 smash in Greece due to a heavily publicised ad campaign for the feminine hygiene product “Janines”.

Hopefully another get together on the cards soon. Watch this space.

“The Excellcium Mast” Blue Prints by The KEY

Posted in Fatigued Owl, The Excellcium Mast, THE KEY on September 13, 2009 by bubblegunner

Fatigued Owl used a custom built lighting rig between 1972 and 1974 to promote Dinethesius on their two tours “The Fracture of Marimbow Tour” and “The Collapsing Mind Tour”.

Known as “The Excellcium Mast” it was designed by roadie and lighting tech “THE KEY” .

This gave the audience a transcopic experience that until then had never been seen by the gig goer. A Powerful component of the already charging progness performed by the band now enhanced with the visual arsenal that was deployed when Fatigued Owl performed live.

We have recently been given the blue prints of “The Mast” by our friends at DAS PROG.

A fascinating incite into the development of the concept.

“Sandra appears from here” refers to the bands dancer Fabreeze. (Real name Sandra Jones-Davies)

“Lads change here” refers to the area where the band members changed into their native american indian costumes for the performance piece “Chasing Horn”

“Really Big Dream Catchers”. We understand these were really big.

This diagram also confirms the presence of the bands “Fudcott Strobe”.
